Saint-Emilion is located 35 km northeast of Bordeaux, on the right bank of the Dordogne River. According to geographical features, it can be divided into three parts: the southern alluvial plain, producing general quality wine; steep slopes, limestone soil, gathered most of the Principal winery in this region; the western plateau, near Pomerol region.
